Hayley Gibson is a highly experienced and highly qualified Creative Mindset Coach, musician and educator based in Melbourne, Australia. In 2004 Hayley graduated from Southern Cross University, with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music majoring in Bass performance. Since completing this degree she has been an active member of the industry teaching and playing in a wide spectrum of contemporary styles and situations. In 2009 she completed her Masters in Teaching to supplement her skill set.

She has a passion for working with students at different stages of their musical journeys, supporting them as they discover and develop their musical voice while cementing their love of music and all things bass.

Qualifications & Teaching Experience

Over 15 years teaching experience – Students of all ages and skill levels in various settings including; privately in her home studio, in Secondary schools, and at Melbourne Polytechnic.

  • Bachelor of Contemporary Music – Bass guitar (2004)
  • Masters of Teaching  – Classroom and instrumental music (2009)
  • Postgraduate Diploma of Teaching (2008)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Education (2013, upgrade 2018)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (2009)

Hayley also holds a current Police Check and Working with Children Check

Really happy to have Hayley as my bass teacher for the past year as an absolute beginner. The approach to learning I find really intuitive so every lesson is constructive, and we cover both music theory and any songs I like to be able to play (jazz, funk, harder rock included). I’m given material to work with (sheet music, practice tracks) but the face-to-face lessons I think are invaluable as is Hayley’s infinite patience!

Totally recommend Hayley if you are serious about bass!

I had been playing bass for a couple of years and seriously needed some expert help. Finding a good teacher is not easy and then I found Hayley!
Getting the balance right between the need to do the hard yards, but also keeping it fun is not easy. As a technical musician and a great player Hayley has it sorted and is terrific at working with my strengths and weaknesses. She understands that I want to play music and that’s important but also coaches me through the theory which is also essential. And it’s great to be able to share stuff about bass with someone who cares and has experience. I’m a better player. The band says it’s making a difference.
